NOTICE| PROGRAMME | TIMETABLE | Eurosteelmaster 2003 "HIGH LEVEL TRAINING COURSE
FOR THE EUROPEAN AIM OF THE COURSE The main aim of the Eurosteelmaster – a highly concentrated short training course for operatives of the steel industry – is to offer the conceptual and operative tools necessary to compare the complex world faced by companies in a competitive and increasingly global steel market. The steel industry has overcome a long period of changes and in many respects it is still undergoing a rapid evolution, both from an economical-managerial as well as from a technological point of view. Such sweeping and rapid changes affect both the market and the production cycle. In order to succesfully manage them, operatives need to possess analytical as well as managerial skills, which only a deep and broad knowledge of the industry is able to support. Personnel directors and trade union leaders, on the other hand, are called upon to understand and match technology-driven operational and organisational changes taking place within their companies. This is essential to enable the workforce to be actively involved in the companies restructuring and to perform a constructive and partaking role. The organisers are seeking to offer a new and unique programme, which will be focused in the following set of aims:
PARTECIPANTS The 2003 Eurosteelmaster is aimed at managers, technical staff, researchers and trade union officials operating in the steel industry and in closely related branches. Partecipants are expected from a variety of companies and organisations across Europe. Partecipants from the management side are expected to have a university education or equivalent experience; they should hold posts of responsibility in their companies and have a proven track record with a minimum of three years professional experience. Trade union representatives, on the other hand, should hold responsibilities at national, regional or company level. The course hopes to attract any operatives with a high potential, who require a high level kind of training that will support their professional advancement within their companies and organisations. The twelve (12) operatives to whom the second edition of the Euro Steelmaste is addressed will be selected following a wide promotional campaign, trough the European associations sponsoring the initiative as well as in trade journals. MODALITIES CONCERNING COURSE ATTENDANCE The course requires a compulsory attendance. The people attending the course will have an accomodation at the place where the lessons will be held. The course will take place over nine days, carried out at the training structure of Villalago di Piediluco, in the neighbourhood of the town of Terni (Umbria). The beginning of the lessons is fixed on September 25th 2003 and the end on October 3rd 2003.
